Strengthen and Restore Your Smile With Dental Crowns
Damaged or worn teeth can make everyday activities like chewing and speaking difficult—and may even affect your confidence. Dental crowns offer an excellent solution to restore both function and appearance. At our dental office, we create custom-made crowns that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, giving you a strong, beautiful smile you can feel proud of.
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cover placed over a damaged or weakened tooth. It helps protect, strengthen, and improve the tooth’s appearance. Designed to match your natural tooth color, crowns are durable, long-lasting, and can restore your smile’s natural look and function.
Why Your Tooth Might Need a Crown
Your dentist may suggest a crown if you have:
- A cracked or broken tooth that needs protection
- A large filling that no longer provides enough support
- A worn-down or weakened tooth
- A misshapen or discolored tooth affecting your smile
- A tooth that has undergone a root canal and needs added strength
- A dental implant that requires a natural-looking cover
What to Expect During the Crown Procedure
Getting a dental crown is a straightforward process that typically takes two visits. Here’s what happens:
Exam and Preparation
Your dentist begins by examining your tooth to confirm that a crown is the best solution. X-rays may be taken if needed. Then, the tooth is gently reshaped to make space for the crown.
Impressions
An impression of your tooth is taken to ensure your crown fits perfectly. This is sent to a dental lab where your custom crown is crafted. In the meantime, a temporary crown will protect your tooth.
Crown Placement
When your permanent crown is ready (usually within 1–2 weeks), you’ll return for your second visit. The temporary crown is removed, and the new one is carefully checked for fit and color before being bonded securely with dental cement.
Final Touches
Your dentist will make minor adjustments to ensure your bite feels natural and comfortable. Once everything is perfect, your crown is set — and your tooth is fully restored!
